CCAR Scholarship Foundation Luncheon a BIG Success!

At our sales meeting last week, Empire Realty Associates Partner, Tom Hart, and CCAR Scholarship Foundation President shared with us details about the wonderful awards luncheon that was held at Blackhawk Country Club.

According to the CCAR (Contra Costa Association of Realtors) website, "The CCAR Scholarship Foundation fosters the highest standard of professionalism in the real estate industry by providing college scholarship grants to aspiring students in the fields of finance, business and real estate. Our commitment to support higher education is the heart of the Contra Costa Association of REALTORS®' desire to make a difference! The Contra Costa Association of REALTORS® Scholarship Foundation has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to deserving students over the past four decades. Helping to underwrite the cost of higher education for students from central Costa Costa county is a great way to positively impact both individuals & families here in our local communities."

The Foundation receives its financial support directly from REALTORS®, industry Affiliate members and friends of the Contra Costa Association of REALTORS®.

At the luncheon this month, over 20 students were honored and received collegiate grants totaling over $47,000. Over 130 combined guests & students attended.

Student schools include: UC-Berkeley, Wake Forest University, Loyola Marymount, Claremont McKenna College, Arizona State University, University of Minnesota, University of Pennsylvania, California State/Chico, UC-Santa Barbara, Humboldt State University, San Diego State, John F. Kennedy University, Cal Poly State University & Sonoma State University.

July 10 – Busta-Groove will kick-off the Summer Concert Series with the hottest hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today.

July 17 – Popular band Pride and Joy will ignite audiences with a stylized performance of timeless pop and soul tunes.

July 24 – Fabulous oldies invade Blackhawk Plaza with the Sun Kings and their uncanny renditions of popular Beatles songs.

July 31 – Motown tunes will rock Blackhawk Plaza when East Bay Mudd’s ten-piece band performs a soulful collection of Motown and R&B classics.

August 7 – Local San Francisco based Evolution will rock Danville with hits from Journey.* August 14 – 80s music returns to the Bay Area with retro sounds from the San Francisco band Tainted Love.

August 21 – Waterloo will bring the music of Abba to Danville when this Northern California-based tribute band ignites the Plaza with classics including “Dancing Queen,” “Ring Ring” and more.

Concert seating opens at 5pm and is first come, first serve.

Relay For Life is Just Around the Corner!

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life unites communities across the country each year to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too many. This year marks the beginning or our celebration of 25 years of Relay For Life.

The Relay For Life event is a 24-hour walk around the track at California High School in San Ramon. This year it is being held from June 27-28 beginning at 10:00 Saturday morning and finishing 10:00 Sunday morning. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are 24 hours in length; representing the reality that cancer never sleeps. Our mission is to eliminate cancer and diminish the suffering. This event helps fund more cancer research than any other private, non-government source which is something we can all support.

Teams are made up of people who share a common goal and commitment to raise money and awareness throughout the year. Teams are composed of friends, neighbors, families, churches, co-workers, small businesses, and sport teams. Empire Realty prides itself on community involvement and is dedicated to making a difference. Last year our team raised $10,485 and we are determined to exceed that amount in 2009.

There is also an opportunity to remember those who have lost their battle to cancer and those who continue to fight, sold by volunteers, each luminaria is decorated and placed on the track, lighting the way for walkers. It is a peaceful time to reflect and respect those who have lost so much to the disease. It would be wonderful to see familiar faces around the track so please join and help make a difference. Traffic and Child Safety

The HOA board has held several meetings over the last few months regarding concerns over traffic and child safety around the East Gate.

The board has adopted a revised program which restricts parking during school drop off hours and pick up hours on Kingswood Drive, Kingswood Circle, Kingswood Court, Kingswood Lane, and Kingswood Place. This polixy wil be adopted May 26, 2009 at a scheduled HOA meeting. You may submit your comments in writing by May 15th.

Main Gate: Bridge reconstruction to begin May 4th

The Cinderella Classic descends Upon Danville!

If you were out and about on Saturday within the tri-valley then you probably noticed female cyclists out enmasse. It was the Annual Cinderella Classic Bike Event featuring female riders of all ages participating in the 100 kilometer (65 Mile) bike ride through the Amador, Livermore and San Ramon Valley. Dressed in costumes, ranging from decorated helmets, tiaras, tutus and more. Enduring an early morning start from the Alameda Fairgrounds and frigid temperatures nearly 2500 set out for the ride of their life. The last of the three aid stations was set-up at Tassajara Hills Elementary School where riders could rest, hydrate, and stretch before heading out to finish the last 21 miles. The ride is very well supported by The Valley Spokesmen Cycling group. The date for the 2010 event has just been announced and it is sure to be a sell-out! Register early to confirm your spot.
